PRODUCE AWARD

COMMISSIONER P A IMLACH

25 January 1994

Wage rates - State Wage Case December 1993 - arbitrated safety net adjustment

REASONS FOR DECISION

This was an application made by the National Union of Workers, Tasmanian Branch (the Union) for the $8 arbitrated safety net adjustment, determined by a full bench of the Commission in the State Wage decision dated 24 December 19931 to be implemented in the Produce Award (the Award).

At the hearing the Union produced a draft award amendment reflecting the implementation and sought the increase.

Consistent with the draft award amendment the Union requested that the increase operate from the first full pay period to commence on or after the date of the hearing.

The Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited (the Chamber) endorsed the submissions of the Union and said that the increase was not against the public interest. The Chamber requested that the increase operate from the first full pay period to commence on or after the date the order was issued.

The Award will be amended operative from the first full pay period commencing on or after 25 January 1994.

An order will be issued in due course.
