TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION Industrial Relations Act 1984 Health Services Union of Australia NURSING HOMES AWARD
Award variation - fourth phased wage adjustment REASONS FOR DECISION This matter concerned the fourth wage adjustment in the Nursing Homes Award. Exhibit HSUA1 was a decision by Mr Commissioner R J Watling1 which set out the background to this matter. This was essentially the commencement of the process of restructuring the Nursing Homes Award following the transfer of conditions of employment from the Hospitals Award. In Mr Commissioner Watling's decision2 he determined that increases in wage rates should be phased in over four instalments each subject to separate application. This current application before me is the last application in the processes endorsed by Mr Commissioner Watling. Having regard to the background in this matter and the specific objective of this application to achieve pre-determined wage relativities in the award, the application to vary the award in the manner requested is endorsed. The order, operative from the first full pay period to commence on or after 1 July 1994, is attached.
