Industrial Relations Act 1984
s23 application for award or award variation

Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees Association,
Tasmanian Branch

(T.5138 of 1994)

RETAIL TRADES AWARD

COMMISSIONER R J WATLING

HOBART, 19 August 1994

Award variation - Wage rate relativity - Retail Employee Grade 3A - consent matter - award varied - operative 1 June 1994

REASONS FOR DECISION

This application was made by the Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees Association, Tasmanian Branch, to amend the Retail Trades Award to delete Retail Employee Grade 3A and converting Retail Employee Grade 3B to Retail Employee Grade 3. The organisation also included consequential amendments in its application.

When the award restructuring a minimum rates adjustment process was carried out for this award, it was agreed that the classifications of corsetiere and clerical officer/typist should have a relativity of 96% and this would be achieved over a period of time commencing on 1 December 1992.

This application forms the final part of the agreed process and is consistent with the Wage Fixing Principles and the minimum rates adjustment process, therefore, the award will be varied in the manner sought and be operative from first full pay period to commence on or after 1 June 1994.

The Order giving effect to this decision is attached.
