METAL AND ENGINEERING INDUSTRY AWARD

COMMISSIONER P A IMLACH

22 August 1994

Wage rates - minimum rates adjustment - 4th increase

REASONS FOR DECISION

This was an application by the Australian Municipal, Administrative, Clerical and Services Union (AMACSU) for the fourth Minimum Rates Adjustment (MRA) to be applied to the Metal and Engineering Industry Award (the Award).

The AMACSU pointed out to the Commission that the MRA process in the Award had been commenced under the Structural Efficiency Principle in matters T.2757 of 1990 and T.3736 of 1992.

In accordance with the Principles and in line with the MRA process for the Award, the AMACSU sought for the fourth MRA to apply from the first full pay period to commence on or after 1 September 1994 and produced a draft amendment order in support its claim. The draft order included some minor amendments and corrections not inconsistent with the claim.

The Automotive, Food, Metals and Engineering Union supported the application.

The Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited advised its consent to the application and the date of operation sought.

The Award will be amended, as requested, operative from the first full pay period to commence an or after 1 September 1994.
