Award variation - second arbitrated safety net adjustment of $8 per week operative 29.11.95 REASONS FOR DECISION In this matter the Automotive, Food, Metals, Engineering, Printing & Kindred Industries Union (the union) sought variation of the Draughting and Technical Officers (Private Industry) Award to give effect to the second $8 arbitrated safety net adjustment. Mr Baker, representing the union, submitted that the application was consistent with the principles as enunciated by the Full Bench in its decision of 20 December 19941. Mr Baker requested that the award be varied in accordance with the draft order he tendered during proceedings. Ms Thomas for the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited acknowledged agreement with the draft order and requested that the award be varied accordingly with an operative date of the first pay period on or after the date of decision. This date was also requested by Mr Baker. As the application is in accordance with the principles, and given that the contents of the draft order are agreed by the parties, the application is approved. The award will be varied in the manner requested with an operative date of the first full pay period commencing after this date. The order is attached.
