(T.6011 of 1995)

GENERAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT AWARD

DEPUTY PRESIDENT ROBINSON

HOBART, 21 December 1995

Award variation - kilometreage allowances - consent matter - operative ffpp 21 December 1995

REASONS FOR DECISION

Application was made by both the Australian Education Union, Tasmanian Branch, and The Community and Public Sector Union (State Public Services Federation Tasmania) to vary the General Conditions of Employment Award, and the two applications were joined. Each sought to increase the amounts contained in the kilometreage allowance provision of the award.

The increases sought were consistent with a predetermined formula established by a Full Bench Decision1 dated 13 June 1985.

The matters were made the subject of prior consultation with relevant parties and were consented to.

Given that consent; consistency with a Full Bench Decision, and the Wage Fixing Principles relating to cost-related allowances, I am satisfied that the applications meet the public interest test.

For all of these reasons the applications are granted in the manner sought and the award will be varied with effect from the beginning of the first full pay period to commence on or after 21 December 1995.

Order is attached.
