(T6063 of 1996)

AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRIES AWARD

COMMISSIONER P A IMLACH

27 March 1996

Award variation - clause 8 - wage rates - 4th minimum rates adjustement - application approved - operative ffpp 23 February 1996

REASONS FOR DECISION

This was an application by the Automotive, Food, Metals, Engineering, Printing and Kindred Industries Union (the Union) for amendments to be made to the Automotive Industries Award (the Award).

Under the Structural Efficiency Principle of the Commission, the Union sought the implementation of the fourth Minimum Rates Adjustment (MRA) in the Award. An exhibit detailing the proposed increases was produced at the hearing in the form of a draft order.

The Union sought an operative date of the first full pay period on or after 23 February 1996.

Apart from some minor adjustments to the layout of the `draft order' the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited consented to the implementation of the 4th MRA and also the operative date.

I am satisfied that this application conforms with the MRA process, is in line with the Principles of the Commission and is not against the public interest.

The application is approved and the date of operation will be the first full pay period on or after 23 February 1996.

An order is attached.
