The Association of Professional Engineers,
Scientists and Managers, Australia

(T.6127 of 1995)

PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS AND SCIENTISTS (PRIVATE INDUSTRY) AWARD

PRESIDENT F D WESTWOOD

21 MARCH, 1996

Award variation- fourth minimum rates adjustment - professional scientists - consent matter - application granted - operative ffpp 4 April 1996

REASONS FOR DECISION

This was an application by The Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers, Australia to vary the Professional Engineers and Scientists (Private Industry) Award to include the fourth and final minimum rates adjustment for professional scientists.

Mr Pyrke for the Association submitted that the application was in accord with the agreed formula for adjusting rates of pay for professional scientists and the Commission was referred to previous decisions of the Commission which dealt with the matter. He sought an operative date of the first full pay period to commence on or after 4 April 1996.

Mr Cameron for the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited indicated that the draft order had been checked and the Chamber was in a position to consent to the application.

Accordingly the application which conforms with the Wage Fixing Principles and does not offend the public interest provisions of the Industrial Relations Act 1984 is approved with effect from the first full pay period to commence on or after 4 April 1996.

The necessary order is attached.
