COMMUNITY AND HEALTH SERVICES (PUBLIC SECTOR) AWARD

COMMISSIONER R J WATLING

HOBART, 29 May 1996

Award variation - expense related allowances - consent matters - award varied - operative ffpp 29 May 1996

REASONS FOR DECISION

These applications, lodged by The Community & Public Sector Union (State Public Services Federation Tasmania), were for the purpose of varying the Community and Health Services (Public Sector) Award in relation to

(a) correct an error arising out of a previous application; and

(b) to increase the District; Meal; and Travel allowances by 3.7 percent, being the upward movement in the Consumer Price Index - weighted average of 8 capitals - all groups from the March quarter 1995 up to and including the March quarter 1996.

All parties present at the hearing consented to the variations being sought by the applicant.

The Wage Fixing Principles, and in particular Clause 9. Allowances, subclause 9.1.1, states :

Existing allowances which constitute a reimbursement of expenses incurred may be adjusted from time to time where appropriate to reflect the relevant changes in the level of such expenses.

I am prepared to increase the allowances in the manner sought as they are consistent with the Wage Fixing Principles.

The Order giving effect to this decision is attached and will be operative from the first full pay period to commence on or after 29 May 1996.
