(T6262 of 1996)

SURVEYORS (PRIVATE INDUSTRY) AWARD

PRESIDENT F D WESTWOOD

16 AUGUST 1996

Award variation - third minimum rates adjustment for classification levels C1 to C4, second minimum rates adjustment for classification levels C5 to C11 - second $8 arbitrated safety net adjustment to all rates - consent application - order to issue operative ffpp 12.8.96

REASONS FOR DECISION

This application by the Automotive, Food, Metals, Engineering, Printing & Kindred Industries Union was to vary the salary rates contained in the Surveyors (Private Industry) Award by inserting the third minimum rates adjustment for classification levels C1 to C4 and the second minimum rates adjustment for classification levels C5 to C11, and to apply the second $8 per week arbitrated safety net adjustment to all rates. In accordance with this intention, Mr Baker, representing the applicant organisation, tendered a draft order to vary the award and requested an operative date for the variation of the first full pay period after 12 August 1996.

The relativities which had been established at the commencement of the minimum rates adjustment process were to be set out in the award and the exhibit tendered to assist the Commission contained a schedule setting out the concluding minimum rates adjustments.

Ms Thomas, representing the Tasmania Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited, confirmed the accuracy of the draft documents. She submitted that the application was in accordance with the Wage Fixing Principles and should be approved operative from the date sought.

I accept the submissions of the parties in all respects and approve the draft consent order. The award will be varied accordingly with effect from the first full pay period to commence on or after 12 August 1996. The order is attached.
