TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION Industrial Relations Act 1984 Minister for Public Sector Administration TASMANIAN AMBULANCE SERVICE AWARD
Award variation - deletion of definitions, classifications, a salary translation reference and annexures concerning administrative and clerical employees - application approved - operative date ffpp 19 March 1997 REASONS FOR DECISION In these proceedings the Minister for Public Sector Administration (MPSA) seeks to vary the Tasmanian Ambulance Service Award to remove certain definitions, classifications, a salary translation reference, and annexures concerning administrative and clerical employees. Mr D Johnston, appearing for the Minister, said that the amendments tidy up inconsistencies in the Tasmanian Ambulance Service Award. In addition, he said, they finalise the movement of clerical and administrative officers from that area of award coverage to the Community and Health Services (Public Sector) Award. Mr Johnston submitted that the proposed variations are consistent with the Wage Fixing Principles in that they reflect ongoing award restructuring and contain no elements that are contrary to the public interest requirements of Section 36 of the Act. Mr T Kleyn, appearing for the Health Services Union of Australia, Tasmania No 1 Branch, told me that the Union consents to and fully supports the Minister's application. Mr Kleyn also agreed with the public interest submissions of Mr Johnston. Having heard the parties I am satisfied that the application meets the requirements of both the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest tests of Section 36 of the Act. In the circumstances I will vary the award in terms of the amended application, effective from beginning of the first full pay period that commences on or after 19 March 1997.
