REASONS FOR DECISION

These applications, lodged by The Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers, Australia, the Australian Education Union, Tasmanian Branch and The Community and Public Sector Union (State Public Services Federation Tasmania) (the applicants) respectively, were for the purpose of varying the Professional Employees Award by inserting a new clause titled "Award Interest and Parties Bound".

The previously mentioned organisations were granted an interest in the award, pursuant to s65A of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, arising out of applications T6621 of 1996, T6662 of 1996 and T6717 of 1997.

Given the foregoing, the award will be varied in the manner sought by the applicants and will be operative on and from 26 March 1997.

The Order giving effect to this decision is attached.
