Award interest - Australian Mines and Metals Association (Incorporated) - application granted REASONS FOR DECISION This was an application made under Section 65A(1) of the Act by the Australian Mines and Metals Association (Incorporated) (the Association) for the granting of interest in the Metalliferous Mining and Processing Award (the Award). At the hearing of the application the Association pointed out to the Commission that it was an association of private employers which was registered with the Commission as an organisation in accordance with Section 62(1) of the Act. The Association also referred to a number of awards of the Commission in which it already had an interest in accordance with Section 65A of the Act. The Commission was reminded that the Award had been made, to date in relation only to the Title and Scope, on 2 May 1996. The Association formally requested interest in the Award saying that it was the principal employer organisation in the area of the Award and all major mining and processing operators in the State of Tasmania were members of the Association. The Association submitted that all the requirements of Section 63(10)(c) of the Act were fulfilled by the Association and, therefore, interest should be granted. There was no opposition to the application. I am satisfied that the Association has fulfilled the requirements of the Act in particular those specified in Section 63(10)(c) and the application is granted. I will now forward a copy of this decision to the Registrar thus enabling him to make the necessary amendments to the certificate of registration.
