Award variation - insertion of carer's leave clause - consequential amendments - vary annual leave and hours of duty - consent matter - application granted - award varied - operative ffpp 8 April 1997 REASONS FOR DECISION This amended application, lodged by The Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers, Australia (the applicant), was for the purpose of varying the Professional Engineers And Scientists (Private Industry) Award to insert a clause to provide for carer's leave, thus giving effect to a Full Bench decision arising out of applications T6296 of 1996 and T6441 of 1996. The amended application included some minor variations to the draft model clause arising out of the previously mentioned Full Bench decision. Those variations centred around part-time employees and the insertion of a dispute settling procedure. Mr Pyrke said the application was consistent with the Wage Fixing Principles, the public interest and the decision arising out of the Full Bench dealing with the subject matter of this application Ms J Thomas, of the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited, advised the Commission that following discussions with the applicant, the organisation she represented consented to the variations in the form outlined in the application. I accept the submissions of the parties and grant the application for the reasons outlined in the Full Bench decision arising out of applications T6296 of 1996 and T6441 of 1996. The Order giving effect to this decision is attached and will be operative from the first full pay period to commence on or after 8 April 1997.
