TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION Industrial Relations Act 1984 Minister for Public Sector Administration CUSTODIAL OFFICERS AWARD
Award variation - deletion of redundant classifications - consent matter - application approved - operative date 24 March 1997 REASONS FOR DECISION In this matter the Minister for Public Sector Administration (the Minister) applies to vary the Custodial Officers Award by removing therefrom the following redundant classifications: Deputy Superintendent Women's Prison The respondent employee organisations, the Tasmanian Correctional Officers Association (TCOA) and The Community and Public Sector Union (State Public Services Federation Tasmania) (CPSU) consent to the variation. The proposed award changes reflect the on-going cooperative efforts of the parties to continue to implement measures to improve the efficiency of their enterprise. After hearing Mr P Nielsen for TCOA, Mr R Clegg for CPSU and Ms A Watt for the Minister, I am satisfied that the proposed variation meets the requirements of the Wage Fixing Principles and contains no elements that are contrary to the public interest requirements of Section 36 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984. In the circumstances, I approve the application and vary the award in terms of the amended application. The Commission's order, which accompanies this decision, will have effect from beginning of the first full pay period that commenced on or after 1 January 1997.
