BAKING INDUSTRY AWARD

COMMISSIONER R J WATLING

HOBART, 20 August 1997

Award variation - wage rates - penultimate Minimum Rate Adjustment - consent matter - application granted - award varied - operative date ffpp 14 September 1997

REASONS FOR DECISION

This application, lodged by the Australian Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers Union - Tasmanian Branch (the applicant), was for the purpose of varying the Baking Industry Award to apply the penultimate Minimum Rate Adjustment.

The matter came before the Commission with the consent of the parties. This Minimum Rate Adjustment formed part of an agreed program established at the commencement of the Minimum Rate Adjustment process.

This agreement is consistent with that program and the Wage Fixing Principles, therefore the award will be varied in the manner sought.

Given the Wage Fixing Principles, and in particular Principle 7.3, the variations will be operative from the first full pay period to commence on or after 14 September 1997.

The parties are reminded that the final Minimum Rate Adjustment will be subject to a separate application.

The Order giving effect to this decision is attached.
