TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION Industrial Relations Act 1984 The Australian Workers' Union, Tasmania Branch SHEARING INDUSTRY AWARD
Award variation - wage rates - 2nd and 3rd $8 safety net adjustment - $10 safety net adjustment - 3rd and 4th Minimum Rate Adjustment for shedhands - conditions of employment - absence from work, leaving, discharge - allowances - payment of wages - consent matter - application granted - award varied - operative date ffpp 8 July 1998 REASONS FOR DECISION This application was lodged by The Australian Workers' Union, Tasmania Branch (the applicant) for the purpose of varying the Shearing Industry Award to reflect the two $8 safety net adjustments, plus the $10 safety net adjustment operative from June 1997, and in addition, in respect to the classification of shedhands, the 3rd and 4th Minimum Rate Adjustment. The matter came before the Commission with the consent of the parties. The parties also agreed that the variations should take effect from the first full pay period to commence on or after 8 July 1998. The variations conform with the Wage Fixing Principles and there was no submission put to me during the course of the hearing that would have me arrive at the conclusion that the agreement of the parties was contrary to the public interest. Having considered all the relevant matters associated with this application, coupled with the consent of the parties, the award will be varied in the manner sought, including the operative date, and I decide accordingly. The Order giving effect to this decision is attached.
