When the matter came on for hearing on 30 May 2000, the applicant was represented by Mr T.J. Edwards and an appearance was entered by Mr R Flanagan of The Australian Workers' Union, Tasmania Branch. The parties informed the Commission of their consent to the award being varied. Having heard the submissions from the parties, I am satisfied that the industries specified in the scope of the awards to be included in Schedule A of the National Training Wage (Tasmanian Private Sector) Award have established approved vocational pathways for traineeships in those industries. Therefore, I approve the application as it is consistent with the public interest test required under the Act. The Order giving effect to this decision is attached and will be operative on and from 30 May 2000.
