s.23 application for an award or variation of an award

Automotive, Food, Metals, Engineering, Printing and Kindred Industries Union
(T9547 of 2001)

SHIPBUILDERS AWARD

PRESIDENT P L LEARY

HOBART, 13 July 2001

Award variation - insert Carer's Leave Clause - application approved - award varied - operative date ffpp 22 June 2001

REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] This is an application by the Automotive, Food, Metals, Engineering, Printing and Kindred Industries Union to vary, by consent, the Shipbuilders Award to insert a new clause to provide for carer's leave.

[2] I approve this application as it does not offend the requirements of Section 36 of the Act relating to matters of public interest nor the Wage Fixing Principles.

[3] The consent variation amends the award by adding a new Clause 12 and renumbering existing Clauses 12 - 38 to 13 - 39 respectively and is to take effect from the beginning of the first full pay period on or after 22 June 2001.
