REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] On 4 October 2001 applications were lodged by the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union, Tasmanian Branch (CFMEU), pursuant to Section 23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, to vary the Building and Construction Industry Award and the Building Trades Award.

[2] When these applications came on for hearing Mr A Benson appeared for the CFMEU and Mr R Rollins appeared for the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited (TCCI).

[3] Mr Benson explained that the purpose of the applications was to adjust expense related allowances in line with movements in the Consumer Price Index between 1 July 2000 and 30 June 2001. Explanatory material supporting the applications has been retained in the file.

[4] Mr Rollins indicated that the TCCI consented to the applications.
