REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] This is an application pursuant to s.23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, was made by the Australian Municipal, Administrative, Clerical and Services Union (AMACSU), on 1 October 2002.

[2] The application sought to vary the Public Accountants Award to reflect the third minimum rate adjustment in accordance with the decision and agreement of the parties in T 7907 of 1998.

[3] Mr I Paterson for AMACSU and Mr J O'Neill for the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited, presented submissions in support of the application.

[4] Having considered the submissions, I am satisfied that the application should be approved, as it is consistent with the previously agreed minimum rate adjustment process for this award; the Wage Fixing Principles; the public interest test required under the Act.

[5] The Order giving effect to this decision attached.
