Industrial agreement - application approved - operative date 1 July 2002 REASONS FOR DECISION (1) On 25 November 2002 the National Union of Workers, Tasmanian Branch (NUW) and Bonlac Foods Limited lodged with the Acting Registrar, pursuant to Section 55(2) of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, the Bonlac Wynyard Warehouse Operations Industrial Agreement 2002. [2] When this matter came on for hearing on 11 December 2002, Mr D Strickland appeared for the NUW. Ms V Middleton of the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited (TCCI), appeared for the employer. [3] The parties explained that this Agreement covered the Wynyard Warehousing operations of the employer. Previously this workplace had been covered by the UMT Industrial Agreement 19991, to which the NUW and AWU were both parties. [4] The Agreement provided for annual wage increases of 5%, 5% and 4.6% on 1 July each year over the life of the Agreement. [5] Other changes included:
[6] I am satisfied that the agreement is consistent with both the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act. [7] Pursuant to s.55[4] of the Act, the Agreement is approved operative from 1 July 2002 and shall continue in force until 1 June 2005. [8] The file will now be referred to the Acting Registrar for registration in accordance with the requirements of Section 56(1) of the Act.
