Award variation - wage rates - minimum rate adjustment - Trainee - Engineering Associate - application approved - award varied - operative date ffpp 28 January 2003 REASONS FOR DECISION [1] This is an application pursuant to s.23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, made by the Automotive, Food, Metals, Engineering, Printing & Kindred Industries Union (the Union) and lodged on 24 January 2003. [2] The application sought to vary the Metal and Engineering Industry Award to reflect the first of four Minimum Rate Adjustments for the trainee - engineering associate employees. [3] Mr P Baker, for the Union, presented a draft Order and submissions in support of the application. He also outlined the agreed program for the second, third and four Minimum Rate Adjustments. These will be subject to separate applications. [4] Mr C Dodds for the Australian Municipal, Administrative, Clerical and Services Union, and Mr R Rollins for the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited supported the submission of Mr Baker. [5] Given the submissions of the parties and the degree of consent, I approve the variation to the award in the manner sought in the draft Order by Mr Baker. The variation shall come into operation from the first full pay period to commence on or after 28 January 2003. [6] The Order giving effect to this decision is attached.
