REASONS FOR DECISIONS

[1] This application, pursuant to s.23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, was made by the Australian Municipal, Administrative, Clerical and Services Union (the union) and lodged on 24 March 2003.

[2] The amended application sought to vary the Public Accountants Award; and, in particular:

  • Part I - Application and Operation of the Award, Clause 2 - Index - to include title to a new clause at Part III - Wages and Related Matters "Clause 6 - Minimum Wage";

  • Part III - Wages and Related Matters, Clause 1 - Wage Rates - to reflect the 4th Minimum Rate Adjustment and to increase allowances for qualifications by 17.9% (to reflect the cumulative effect of the Minimum Rate Adjustment process); and

  • Part III - Wages and Related Matters, inset new Clause 6 - Minimum Wage.

[3] Mr I Paterson, for the Union and Ms J Thomas, for the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited, presented submissions in support of the application.

[4] Given the submissions of the parties and the degree of consent, I approve the variation to the award in the manner sought by Mr Paterson.

[5] The Order giving effect to this decision is attached.
