REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] This consent application was made pursuant to s.23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, by The Australian Workers' Union, Tasmania Branch (the union).

[2] The union sought to vary the Pasminco Rosebery (Mining) Award; in particular to combine the money amounts contained in the base rate and supplementary payment columns appearing in Clause 8 - Wage Rates, subclause (a).

[3] Mr R Flanagan, for the union, presented detailed submissions in support of the application and sought to amend the draft Order, Exhibit AWU.2.

[4] Mr W J Fitzgerald, for the Australian Mines and Metals Association (Incorporated), confirmed the matter was a consent application, supported the submissions of Mr Flanagan together with the amended draft Order.

[5] Given the submissions of the parties and the degree of consent, I approve the variation to the award as outlined in amended draft Order.

[6] The Order giving effect to this decision is attached.
