Industrial agreement - application approved - operative date 1/1/03 - 31/5/05 - forwarded to A/Registrar for registration REASONS FOR DECISION (1) On 2 May 2003 The Australian Workers' Union, Tasmania Branch and Hazell Bros Group lodged with the Acting Registrar, pursuant to Section 55(2) of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, the Hazell Bros Silviculture and Afforestation Industrial Agreement 2003. (2) When this matter came on for hearing on 7 May 2003, Mr R Flanagan appeared for the union and Mrs J Cooke appeared for the employer. (3) Mr Flanagan explained that this Agreement replaces the Hazell Bros Silviculture and Afforestation Industrial Agreement 2001.1 (4) Changes from the previous Agreement include:
(5) Mrs Cooke supported the submissions of Mr Flanagan and confirmed that the company was also anxious to enhance employment security. (6) I am satisfied that the Agreement is consistent with both the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act. (7) Pursuant to Section 55[4] of the Act, the Agreement is approved operative from 1 January 2003 and shall remain in force until 31 May 2005. (8) The file will now be referred to the Acting Registrar for registration in accordance with the requirements of Section 56(1) of the Act.
