REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] On 21 July 2003, an application was lodged by the Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers, Australia, pursuant to s.23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, to vary the Architects [Private Industry] Award.

[2] The application sought to vary Clause 3 - Vehicle Allowance of Part IV - ALLOWANCES.

[3] At the hearing Mr D Pyrke appeared on behalf of the applicant union while Mr J O'Neill appeared on behalf of the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited.

[4] The parties presented submissions in support of the amended application.

[5] I approve the consent variations as they are consistent with the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act.

[6] The Order giving effect to this Decision is attached.
