TASMANIAN STATE SERVICE NATIONAL TRAINING WAGE AGREEMENT 2003

COMMISSIONER T J ABEY

HOBART, 11 September 2003

Industrial agreement - application approved - operative date ffpp 11 September 2003 - forwarded to A/Registrar for registration

REASONS FOR DECISION

(1) On 1 September 2003 the Minister Administering the State Service Act 2000, The Community and Public Sector Union (State Public Services Federation Tasmania) Inc, the Australian Education Union, Tasmanian Branch and the Health Services Union of Australia, Tasmania No. 1 Branch lodged with the Acting Registrar, pursuant to Section 55(2) of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, the Tasmanian State Service National Training Wage Agreement 2003.

(2) When this matter came on for hearing on 11 September 2003, Mr T Pearce appeared for the Minister, Mr R Miller for the CPSU, Mr C Lane for the AEU and Mr T Jacobson for the HSUA.

(3) Mr Pearce explained that this Agreement largely replicated the 2002 Agreement1. Wage rates in Clause 11 have been adjusted to reflect the 2003 State Wage Case decision. In addition a number of cosmetic alterations have been made including a tidying up of certain definitions.

(4) The union representatives indicated support for the Agreement.

(5) I am satisfied that the Agreement is consistent with both the Wage Fixing Principles and public interest requirements of the Act.

(6) Pursuant to s.55[4] of the Act, the Agreement is approved, operative from the beginning of the first pay period to commence on or after 11 September 2003 and shall remain in force for a period of one year.

(7) The file will now be referred to the Acting Registrar for registration in accordance with the requirements of Section 56(1) of the Act.
