Award variation - to delete Clause 25 - Preference of Employment and to amend Clause 27 - Right of Entry of Union Officials - consent matter - application granted - award varied - operative date 25 September 2003 REASONS FOR DECISION [1] On 3 September 2003, an application was lodged by the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited, pursuant to s.23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984 ("the Act"), to vary the Insurance Award. [2] A hearing commenced on Thursday, 25 September 2003 at 12.00 at the Commonwealth Law Courts, 39-41 Davey Street, Hobart. [3] The application sought to vary the award by deleting Clause 25 - Preference of Employment and by amending Clause 27 - Right of Entry of Union Officials. [4] At the hearing Ms J Thomas appeared on behalf of the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited. Mr I Paterson of the Australian Municipal, Administrative, Clerical and Services Union sent a letter indicating consent to the application. [5] Oral submissions were presented by Ms Thomas. [6] Having heard these submissions, I approve the consent variations as they are consistent with the Act. [7] The Order giving effect to this Decision is attached.
