Industrial Agreement - agreement approved - operative 1 October 2003 for a period of one year - forwarded to the Acting Registrar for registration REASONS FOR DECISION [1] This application, lodged pursuant to s.55 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984 by the Australian Workers' Union, Tasmania Branch and Aquatas Pty Ltd was for the purpose of filing an industrial agreement with the Commission. [2] A hearing commenced on Friday 5 December 2003 at 9.30 am. At the hearing Mr I Wakefield appeared for the Australian Workers' Union, Tasmania Branch. Mr J O'Neill appeared for the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited. [3] The agreement, to be known as the Aquatas (Feeders) Industrial Agreement 2003, is to be operative on and from 1 October 2003 and it is to remain in force for a period of one year. [4] The agreement applies to all employees or future employees for whom a classification appears in this agreement. [5] Oral submissions were presented by Mr O'Neill and by Mr Wakefield. [6] Having considered those submissions, I am satisfied the agreement should be approved as it satisfies s.36 of the Act. [7] The file will now be referred to the Acting Registrar in accordance with the requirements of s.56(1) of the Act.
