Industrial agreement - application approved - operative date 1 February 2004 - forwarded to Registrar for registration

REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] On 27 February 2004 the Health Services Union of Australia, Tasmania No. 1 Branch and The Society for Multiply Disabled People of Tasmania Incorporated lodged with the Registrar, pursuant to Section 55(2) of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, The Society For Multiply Disabled People Of Tasmania Incorporated Salary Packaging Agreement 2004.

[2] When this matter came on for hearing on 3 March 2004, Mr S Littler appeared for the Union. Mrs M Subonj appeared for the employer.

[3] Mr Littler explained that the purpose of the agreement was to facilitate salary packaging for staff of the Society and was similar to a number of other agreements registered with the Commission to which the union was party.

[5] I am satisfied the Agreement is consistent with both the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act

[6] Pursuant to s.55(4) of the Act the agreement is approved operative from 1 February 2004 and shall remain in force until 1 February 2006.
