Industrial Agreement - agreement approved - operative 1 March 2004 - to remain in force until 31 May 2005 - forwarded to the Registrar for registration REASONS FOR DECISION [1] This application, lodged pursuant to s.55 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984 by The Australian Workers' Union, Tasmania Branch (the union) and Woodlands Corporation (Aust) Pty Ltd, Advanced Horticultural Maintenance Pty Ltd and Agricultural Services Pty Ltd (the employers), was for the purpose of filing an industrial agreement with the Commission. [2] On 26 May 2004, the Commission convened a hearing at Commonwealth Law Courts, 39-41 Davey Street, Hobart, Tasmania, before myself, to commence on 22 June 2004. [3] The agreement, to be known as the AWU Woodlands Silviculture and Afforestation Industrial Agreement 2003, is to be operative from 1 March 2004 and remain in force until 31 May 2005. [5] Mr I Wakefield for the union and the employers, presented a submission in support of the consent application. [6] Having considered the submission of the parties, I am satisfied the agreement should be approved as it is consistent with the public interest requirements of the Act, and I decide accordingly. [7] The file will now be referred to the Registrar in accordance with the requirements of s.56(1) of the Act.
