REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] On 5 July 2004, the Automotive, Food, Metals, Engineering, Printing and Kindred Industries Union and Maltec Engineering Pty Ltd lodged with the Registrar, pursuant to Section 55(2) of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, the Maltec Engineering Pty Ltd Enterprise Agreement 2004.

[2] When this matter came on for hearing on 20 July 2004, Ms D Sargent appeared for the union. Mr L Malley appeared for the employer.

[3] Ms Sargent advised that the agreement provided for a guaranteed minimum annual wage increase together with provision for salary sacrifice.

[4] Mr Malley indicated consent to the agreement.

[5] I am satisfied that the agreement is consistent with both the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act.

[6] Pursuant to s.55(4) the agreement is approved operative from the beginning of the first pay period to commence on or after 1 June 2004 and shall remain in force for a period of three years.

[7] The file will now be referred to the Registrar for registration in accordance with the requirements of Section 56(1) of the Act.
