Industrial agreement - application approved - operative date ffpp 1 August 2004 - for a period of 3 years - forwarded to Registrar for registration REASONS FOR DECISION [1] On 26 July 2004 The Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union, Tasmanian Branch and Tasmanian Meat Wholesalers Pty Ltd lodged with the Registrar, pursuant to Section 55(2) of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, the Tasmanian Meat Wholesalers Pty Ltd (ACN 51 009 538 112) and The Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union Tasmanian Branch Enterprise Agreement 2004. [2] When this matter came on for hearing on 9 August 2004, Mr G Courtney appeared for the Union, and Mr P Phillips for the employer. [3] Mr Courtney explained that this Agreement was all embracing in that it replaced all other awards, agreements and over-award arrangements. [4] The operative date of the agreement is 1 August 2004, and provides for two 5% increases in wage rates. Each increase of 5% is to commence from the first full pay period on or after each anniversary date of the agreement. [5] The Agreement contains a No Extra Claims clause to apply for the duration of the Agreement except when consistent with the Agreement. [6] Having considered the submission of the parties, I am satisfied the agreement should be approved as it is consistent with the public interest requirements of the Act, and I decide accordingly. [7] The file will now be referred to the Registrar in accordance with the requirements of s.56(1) of the Act.
