THE TASMANIAN BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY TRAINING BOARD INDUSTRIAL AGREEMENT 2004-2006

COMMISSIONER T J ABEY

HOBART, 26 August 2004

Industrial agreement - application approved - operative date ffpp 1/1/04 - 31/12/06 - forwarded to Registrar for registration

REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] On 11 August 2004, The Community and Public Sector Union (State Public Services Federation Tasmania) Inc. and the Tasmanian Building and Construction Industry Training Board lodged with the Registrar, pursuant to Section 55(2) of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, The Tasmanian Building and Construction Industry Training Board Industrial Agreement 2004-2006.

[2] When this matter came on for hearing on 20 August 2004, Mr R Miller appeared for the Union. Mr P Gourlay, of the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited, appeared for the Board.

[3] Mr Miller explained that in addition to a number of relatively minor changes, the new agreement incorporated salary adjustments consistent with the Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No 2 of 2004.

[4] Mr Gourlay supported the submissions of Mr Miller.

[5] I am satisfied that the agreement is consistent with both the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act.

[6] Pursuant to s.55(4) of the Act, the agreement is approved operative from the beginning of the first pay period to commence on or after 1 January 2004 and shall remain in force until 31 December 2006.

[7] The file will now be referred to the Registrar for registration in accordance with the requirements of Section 56(1) of the Act.
