Industrial agreement - application approved - operative date ffpp 17 September 2004 - 3 years - forwarded to Registrar for registration REASONS FOR DECISION [1] On 31 August 2004, the Australian Municipal, Administrative, Clerical and Services Union (AMACSU) and Karinya Young Womyn's Refuge Inc lodged with the Registrar, pursuant to Section 55(2) of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, the Karinya Young Womyn's Refuge Inc/ASU Salary Packaging Agreement 2004. [2] When this matter came on for hearing on 17 September 2004, Mr I Paterson appeared for AMACSU. Mr N Gozzi, of the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited, appeared for Karinya Young Womyn's Refuge Inc. [3] Mr Paterson explained that the purpose of the agreement was to facilitate salary packaging for permanent staff of the Refuge and was similar to a number of other agreements registered with the Commission to which the union was a party. [4] Mr Gozzi indicated consent to the application. [5] I am satisfied that the agreement is consistent with both the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act. [6] Pursuant to s.55(4) of the Act, the agreement is approved operative from the beginning of the first pay period to commence on or after 17 September 2004 and shall remain in force for a period of 3 years. [7] The file will now be referred to the Registrar for registration in accordance with the requirements of Section 56(1) of the Act.
