The application sought to vary the Hours of Work clause to provide for a 38 hour week. [2] A hearing commenced at the Commonwealth Law Courts, 39-41 Davey Street, Hobart on Friday 29 July 2005 at 9.30 am. [3] At the hearing Mr R Flanagan appeared for The Australian Workers' Union, Tasmania Branch. Mr M Watson appeared for the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited. [4] Both parties gave oral submissions in support of the application. Having considered these submissions, I am satisfied that the variations are consistent with the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act.
