Industrial agreement – application approved – operative date ffpp 28/4/05 -28/4/08 – forwarded to Registrar for registration REASONS FOR DECISION [1] On 1 July 2005, the Automotive, Food, Metals, Engineering, Printing and Kindred Industries Union and Tasmanian Mines Limited lodged with the Registrar, pursuant to Section 55(2) of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, the Tasmanian Mines Industrial Agreement 2005. [2] When this matter came on for hearing on 3 August 2005, Mr S Littler appeared for the Automotive, Food, Metals, Engineering, Printing and Kindred Industries Union and Mr S Cornish, of the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited, appeared for Tasmanian Mines Limited. [3] Mr Littler explained that employees covered by the agreement had been fully consulted and were supportive of the agreement. [4] I am satisfied that the agreement is consistent with both the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act. [5] Pursuant to s.55(4) of the Act, the agreement is approved operative from the beginning of the first pay period to commence on or after 28 April 2005 and shall remain in force until 28 April 2008. [6] The file will now be referred to the Registrar for registration in accordance with the requirements of Section 56(1) of the Act.
