REASONS FOR DECISION
[1] On 12 December 2005, the Health Services Union of Australia, Tasmania No. 1 Branch and Regional Imaging Limited lodged with the Registrar, pursuant to Section 55(2) of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, the Regional Imaging Tasmania Administration and Operational Staff Enterprise Agreement 2005.
[2] When this matter came on for hearing on 20 December 2005, Mr M Vizard appeared for the HSUA. Ms B Nicholson and Ms M Chailler appeared for Regional Imaging Limited.
[3] Mr Vizard explained that a key feature of the new agreement was a totally revamped classification structure. This he said would result in a clearly defined and easy to comprehend career path, which would also address recruitment and retention issues.
[4] The average salary adjustment over the life of the agreement was 4% pa.
[5] Ms Nicholson said that the staff had played a major role in the development of the classification structure and were strongly committed to the agreement.
[6] I am satisfied that the agreement is consistent with both the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act
[7] Pursuant to s.55(4) of the Act, the agreement is approved operative from 20 December 2005 and shall remain in force until 31 March 2008.
[8] The file will now be referred to the Registrar for registration in accordance with the requirements of Section 56(1) of the Act.
