NURSES (TASMANIAN PUBLIC SECTOR) AWARD 2005

New award - application approved - operative date 1 January 2006

REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] This is an application pursuant to s.23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984 (the Act) by the Australian Nursing Federation Tasmanian Branch (ANF) to make an award to be known as Nurses (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award 2005 (the award).

[2] The award is established in respect of employees employed under the terms of the State Service Act 2000 and who occupy positions whose duties are encompassed by the classification definitions of the award.

[3] The following employee organisations have an interest in the award pursuant to s.63(10) of the Act.

    · Australian Nursing Federation Tasmanian Branch; and the

    · Health Services Union of Australia, Tasmania No. 1 Branch.

[4] The following employer organisation has an interest in the award pursuant to s.62(4) of the Act.

    The Minister administering the State Service Act 2000.

[5] The award has been negotiated by the parties and is presented to the Commission by consent.

[6] I have perused the provisions found in the award and am satisfied that it is in accord with the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act.

[7] The award came into effect from 1 January 2006.
