REASONS FOR DECISION
[1] This application, lodged pursuant to s.55 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, by the Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Union - Tasmanian Branch and the Tasmania University Union Inc., was for the purpose of filing an industrial agreement with the Commission.
[2] On 17 February 2006, the Commission convened a hearing at Commonwealth Law Courts, 39-41 Davey Street, Hobart, Tasmania, before myself, to commence on Tuesday, 21 February 2006 at 9.15 am.
[3] Mr P Tullgren appeared for the Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Union - Tasmanian Branch, and Mr J Jones for the Tasmania University Union Inc.
[4] The agreement, to be known as The Tasmania University Union Inc. Industrial Agreement 2006, is to be operative on and from 1 January 2006 and it is to remain in force for a period of two years.
[5] The agreement applies to all employees of the employer for whom a classification appears in this agreement.
[6] The parties presented submissions in support of the consent application.
[7] Having considered the submissions of the parties, I am satisfied that the agreement is consistent with both the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act, and I decide accordingly.
[8] The file will now be referred to the Registrar in accordance with the requirements of s.56(1) of the Act.
