Award variation - apprentice provisions - consent matter - application granted - award varied - operative date ffpp 26/4/07
REASONS FOR DECISION
On 4 April 2007, an application was lodged by the Minister for Justice and Workplace Relations, pursuant to s.23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, to vary the Plumbers Award, the Electrical Engineers Award, the Dentists Award and the Horticulturists Award.
A hearing commenced at the Commonwealth Law Courts, 39-41 Davey Street, Hobart on Thursday 26 April 2007 at 2.30 pm. At the hearing Mr J Evans appeared for the Minister for Justice and Workplace Relations. Mrs S Haas appeared for the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited. Both of the above gave oral submissions in support of the application.
I am satisfied that the variations are consistent with the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act. The variations are made with the consent of the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited and the Tasmanian Trades and Labor Council.
The orders reflecting this decision, with an operative date from the first full pay period to commence on or after 26 April 2007, are attached.
