COMMISSIONER T J ABEY

HOBART, 9 July 2007

Award variation - expense related allowances - motor vehicle expense allowance - transfer expenses - meal and incidentals allowance - name change - specialist capability group - approved - operative date 4 July 2007

REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] On 27 June 2007, an application was lodged by the Police Association of Tasmania (PAT), pursuant to Section 23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, to vary the Police Award.

[2] When this matter came on for hearing on 4 July 2007, Mr M Kadziolka appeared for the PAT and Mr T Martin appeared for the Commissioner of Police.

[3] This application seeks to vary the award by adjusting various allowances.

[4] Mr Kadziolka advised that the application sought an adjustment of 2.4% to reflect the change in the CPI between March 2006 and March 2007, consistent with the previously established formula.

[5] Mr Martin consented to the application.

[6] I am satisfied that the application is consistent with both the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act.

[7] The application is granted operative from 4 July 2007.

[8] The Order reflecting this decision is attached.
