REASONS FOR DECISION

 

[1]  This application, lodged pursuant to s.55 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, by Minister Administering the State Service Act 2000 (the Minister), the Australian Education Union, Tasmanian Branch (the AEU) and The Community and Public Sector Union (State Public Services Federation Tasmania) Inc. (the CPSU) was for the purpose of filing an industrial agreement with the Commission.

[2]  Mr C Lane and Mr D Wishart appeared for the AEU, Ms K Tyson for the CPSU and Mr M Watson for the Minister.

[3]  The agreement, to be known as the Department of Education Teacher Aides Industrial Agreement 2008, is operative from the first full pay period to commence on or after 11 March 2008 and shall remain in force for a period of three years.

[4]  Having considered the consent submissions of the parties, I am satisfied the agreement is consistent with: the Wage Fixing Principles; and the public interest and no disadvantage tests required by the Act, and I decide accordingly.

[5]  The file will now be referred to the Registrar for registration in accordance with the requirements of Section 56(1) of the Act.
