Industrial Agreement - agreement approved operative date 1 July 2007 to remain in force until 30 June 2010 - forwarded to the Registrar for registration REASONS FOR DECISION [1] This application, lodged pursuant to s.55 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984 by the Minister Administering the State Service Act 2000 and the United Firefighters Union of Tasmania, was for the purpose of filing an industrial agreement with the Commission. [2] On 1 July 2008, the Commission convened a hearing at Commonwealth Law Courts, 39-41 Davey Street, Hobart, Tasmania to commence on 2 July 2008 at 9.30 am. [3] The agreement, to be known as the Tasmanian Fire Fighting Industry Employees Industrial Agreement 2007, is to be operative on and from 1 July 2007 and to remain in force until 30 June 2010. [4] The agreement applies to all employees covered by the Tasmanian Fire Fighting Industry Employees Award excluding those employees classified as Community Fire Safety Officers Level 1-4. [5] Mr F Ogle with Ms R Pearce for the Minister Administering the State Service Act 2000,and Mr R Warwick for the United Firefighters Union of Tasmania, presented submissions in support of their consent application. [6] Having considered the consent submissions of the parties, I am satisfied the agreement is consistent with: the Wage Fixing Principles; and the public interest and no disadvantage tests required by the Act, and I decide accordingly. [7] The file will now be referred to the Registrar in accordance with the requirements of s.56(1) of the Act.
