REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] This is an application, pursuant to s.55 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984 (The Act) to approve and register an agreement to be known as the Disability Services Industry Wages Agreement 2008.

[2] The parties to the agreement are the Health Services Union of Australia, Tasmania No 1 Branch, and employers in the Disability Services Industry who are named in Schedule A of this Agreement.

[3] The agreement is operative from the first full pay period on or after date of approval and will remain in force for a period of 3 months. The financial terms and conditions within the agreement shall come into force three months from the date of registration.

[4] I am satisfied that the agreement is consistent with both the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act.

[5] Pursuant to s.55 (4) of the Act the agreement is approved.

[6] The file will be referred to the Registrar for registration in accordance with the requirements of s.56(1) of the Act.
