Award variation - new Appendix 11 - School Administrative Staff Translation


REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] On 4 May 2009, an application was lodged by the Minister administering the State Service Act 2000, pursuant to s.23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, to vary the Tasmanian State Service Award by inserting a new Appendix 11 - School Administrative Staff TSSA Translation.

[2] A hearing commenced at the Commonwealth Law Courts, 39-41 Davey Street, Hobart on 14 May 2009.  At the hearing Mr P Baker and Mr M Watson appeared for the Minister administering the State Service Act 2000 with Ms M Castle.  Ms K Jackson appeared for the Community and Public Sector Union (State Public Services Federation Tasmania) Inc with Ms A Bradshaw.  Mr Watson and Ms Jackson gave oral submissions in support of the application.

[3] I am satisfied that the variation is consistent with the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act.  

[4] The order reflecting this decision is attached.  The operative date for the translation is from the first full pay period on or after 5 March 2009.  The award is consolidated with an operative date of 14 May 2009.
