(T13491 OF 2009)

POLICE AWARD

COMMISSIONER T J ABEY

HOBART, 22 September 2009

Award variation - expense related allowances - application approved - operative date 22 September 2009

REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] On 12 August 2009, an application was lodged by the Police Association of Tasmania, pursuant to Section 23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, to vary the Police Award.

[2] When this matter came on for hearing on 22 September 2009, Mrs A Smith appeared for the Police Association of Tasmania and Mr T Martin and Ms H Jordan appeared for the Commissioner of Police.

[3] Mrs Smith explained that the application sought to adjust expense related allowances consistent with movements in the CPI between the March Quarter 2009 and the corresponding quarter in 2008.This equated to an increase of 2.5%. In addition there were a number of minor changes dealing in the main with redundant provisions.

[4] Mr Martin consented to the application.

[5] I am satisfied that the application is consistent with the public interest requirements of the Act.

[6] The application is granted operative from 22 September 2009.

[7] The Order reflecting this decision follows.
