POLICE AWARD

DEPUTY PRESIDENT TIM ABEY
HOBART, 21 June 2010

Award variation - expense-related allowances - consent order issued - operative date 18/6/10

REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] On 27 May 2010, an application was lodged by the Police Association of Tasmania, pursuant to s.23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, to vary the Police Award with respect to expense-related allowances.

[2] A hearing commenced in Hobart on 18 June 2010.  At the hearing Ms A Smith appeared for the Police Association of Tasmania.  Mr T Martin appeared for the Commissioner of Police.

[3] Mrs Smith explained that the application reflected the change in the CPI between the March quarter 2009 and the March quarter 2010 of 2.9%. Mr Martin consented to the application.

[4] I am satisfied that the variation is consistent with the public interest requirements of the Act.   The order reflecting this decision, with an operative date from 18 June 2010, is attached.
