REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] On 30 July 2010, an application was lodged by the Australian Education Union, Tasmanian Branch (AEU), pursuant to s.23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, to vary the Post Year 10 Teaching Staff Award.

[2] A hearing commenced in Hobart on 13 July 2010.  At the hearing Mr C Lane appeared for the AEU, Tasmanian Branch.  Mr T Kleyn appeared for the Minister administering the State Service Act 2000. 

[3] Mr Lane submitted that the application sought to adjust Expense Related Allowances in line with the change in the CPI since March 2008, an amount of 5.43%.

[4] Mr Kleyn consented to the application.

[5] I am satisfied that the application is consistent with the public interest requirements of the Act.

[6] The application is granted operative from the beginning of the first pay period to commence on or after 13 July 2010.

[7] The order reflecting this decision follows.
